Self-Care with hunnybunny's Sea Clay Mask
by Alexis Atkins
My favorite way to practice self-care is by dedicating Sundays to nourishing my skin. It brings focus to my hectic week. It provides me space to unwind. Plus, the downtime forces me to separate from my phone. Speaking from experience, running water in sinks and uncased cellphones do not mix well.
In short, it’s a great time for me to check-in with myself.
Nothing is more soothing than carving out some quiet time for an indulgent face mask. Not only are face masks relaxing but the process of mixing a face mask can be calming as well.
hunnybunny is an all-natural boutique that specializes in bath and body products. Founded by Zuri, Nya – and their mom Leigh, the hunnybunny team is making clean beauty affordable and accessible. Many of their products are produced with food-based ingredients that can be found right in your kitchen. The best part is that all of their products are handmade right in the heart of D.C.
I am always on the hunt for simple and effective skincare. I have semi-sensitive skin. Most products don’t cause me to break out. However, when they do, it’s a major pain to get my skin back on track. Not to mention that I am acne-prone and have acne scarring from my young adult years.
Designed to reduce acne and eliminate blemishes, hunnybunny’s face mask formula is extremely gentle. Their Sea Clay Face Mask only has three ingredients: Green Tea Powder, Chamomile and, Sea Clay. These key ingredients work together to clarify and hydrate skin providing maximum benefits without the harmful chemicals.
The base of the mask is Sea Clay. Sea Clay detoxifies and removes excess oil. Green tea is known for its reparative abilities. In skincare, green tea powder is often used in products to improve skin complexion and heal blemishes. Chamomile is anti-bacterial and anti-bacterial which can reduce swelling of new acne.
The mask is easy to use. Simply mix equal parts liquid to powder to get a spreadable paste. Almond milk and water are great options to mix the sea clay mask with for a mild blend. If you want a stronger mixture, try adding diluted apple cider vinegar. Apply the mask to your face and allow it to dry. Once the color of the mask lightens from a deep shade of forest green to a light sage, it’s dry. Next, wash it off with water and pat dry to reveal a fresh and clean face.
Unlike most drugstore face masks, this mask won’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry. I was surprised that I didn’t need to immediately reach for moisturizer after rinsing off the mask. It not fragranced with manmade perfumes so it’s not going to cause any irritation to your eye area. I even woke up the next morning with softer and smoother skin.
hunnybunny’s Sea Clay Face Mask is the perfect all-natural addition to a great self-care skin day. Not only is full of antioxidants for your skin but over time it can improve the health of your skin. Plus, it’s only $8.00! Who doesn’t love affordable skincare?
