Ebyan Noor is the owner + founder of Butter Skin, a plant-based skincare line that creates multifunctional skincare essentials. Ebyan immigrated to Canada to seek refuge from the civil war in her home country of Somalia in 1991. She grew up in Toronto, Canada and calls it her home. Ebyan holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce where she specialized in fashion management, the business side of fashion & beauty.
The creation of Butter Skin came as s result of Ebyan’s journey to find natural ways of healing her own eczema. During her research, she discovered the lack inclusive imagery and the disconnect between women of color and the natural skincare industry. Brands developing products with women of color in mind were far and few in between.
“As a black muslim woman, and immigrant, representation is so important to me. When I transitioned my beauty regimen to non-toxic and plant based, it was hard for me to build an emotional connection with brands because they didn’t make me feel like I belonged in that space. I created Butter Skin to bring a sense of ease, belonging, and empowerment to all women on their journey to a green, clean, and simple skincare routine. Butter Skin promotes and supports diversity and inclusion of all women in the green beauty space. We are dedicated to handcrafting plant-powered, multifunctional skincare essentials that nurture, restore and protect your skin.”
