Alexa Batista is an Afro-Latina entrepreneur of Dominican and Afro-Cuban descent, born and raised in the South Bronx, whose journey into skincare was born from necessity, love, and ancestral wisdom.

As a single mother who once had just 16 cents to her name, Alexa turned to her grandmother's traditional shea butter remedies when her son's eczema resisted every conventional treatment. The results were transformative — and so was the moment. That healing became the foundation of Balanced Shea, a culturally intentional skincare brand rooted in generational knowledge and made for melanin-rich skin.

What began in her kitchen has grown into a movement — one that honors heritage, empowers communities, and bridges generations through every jar.
