Kaya, along with her sisters Sativa and Maritza, founded Dirt Don’t Hurt in 2017 with a shared mission to create cleaner, safer personal care products for their families and communities. Based in San Diego and moms to seven children collectively, the sisters were inspired to take a more natural approach to wellness during their pregnancies, when they began to closely examine the toxic ingredients found in everyday products.

Unable to find the clean, effective options they were looking for, they started crafting their own formulas using earth- and plant-based ingredients like activated charcoal, essential oils, and detoxifying clays. Today, Dirt Don’t Hurt is more than a brand—it’s a movement dedicated to educating and empowering others to embrace safer, natural alternatives.
