The Black Girls Guide to Self-Care
Self-care is any activity we do to take care of our mental, emotional, + physical health
. Although it’s a simple concept in theory, it’s something we very often overlook. Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety. It’s also key to a good relationship with oneself and others. Here are some of our ideas on ways that you can create a self-care routine:
Turn Your Bath into a Self-care Ritual
Physically rinsing dirt, stress, + toxic energies off your skin and down the drain makes bath time particulaly healing. During this time you summon clarity, creativity, relaxation and – ultimately – pleasure. And remerge feeling light, clean, and renewed. We have discovered a variety of bubbling, foaming, frothing and sensorily pleasing things – each of which make the water (and overall experience) far more interesting.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit. It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process. Light a candle, grab a good book, and take a minute to yourself.
Soothe with Tea
Tea has been linked to numerous health benefits, from a reduced risk of heart attacks and high blood pressure to potential protection against certain cancers. A cup of tea, a good book, and 30 minutes of quite time could be the perfect receipe for your self-care routine.
Set the mood with candles
We only feature natural soy candles are blended with a mix of essential oils, each one individually crafted to assist you in your personal self-care routine.
Detox + Exfoliate
Exfoliates are used to remove dead skin cells, deep cleanse pores, increase blood flow, unclog pores to draw out impurities, brighten complexion, tone, rejuvenate skin and clear up blemishes. We recommend that you exfoliate after shaving (or after using a hair removal cream like Nair or Veet) and on your underarms during your transition to natural deodorant.
Treat Yourself
Sometimes buying yourself a small token of appreciation is a very healthy part of self-care. Especially if you are the super budgeting, ten year financial plan, everything is on a budget type.
