MEET THE FOUNDER
Shontay Lundy loves to be outside. She often hikes, practices yoga and walks her bulldog on the beach. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find a sunscreen that would protect her from the sun without cramping her style. Like many women with dark skin tones, applying sunscreen meant dealing with the white residue left behind by traditional products—and it wasn’t a good look.
Armed with an MBA and a personal vendetta against this unappealing residue, the New York-raised businesswoman started looking for a solution. She discovered that there were natural ingredients that could boost melanin production, offer proper UV protection and be fully absorbed by the skin. So, she worked with skin care experts to create Black Girl Sunscreen.

All You Need to Know
Everyone should wear sunscreen to protect them against UVA & UVB rays. Protection against these rays helps prevent skin cancers, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles and sunburns.
People of color SPECIFICALLY should wear sunscreen because according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, the 5-year melanoma survival rate for black people in the United States is 71%, compared with 93% for white people. While black people are getting melanoma less, we are dying more frequently than others.
Yes, darker skin does protect from some UV rays, but we actually do need to wear sunscreen too.
The natural ingredients in Black Girl Sunscreen include avocado, jojoba, cacao, carrot juice, and sunflower oil.
We suggest applying Black Girl Sunscreen on your face and body as it contains additional moisturizing ingredients to protect and moisturize the skin.
