The Power of the Pin: Why I Turned to Acupuncture on My Healing Journey
After surviving a traumatic car accident, my healing journey has been anything but linear. As I’ve worked to reclaim my health—physically, mentally, and emotionally—I’ve learned that true wellness requires intention, consistency, and a willingness to explore different paths to healing.
That’s what led me back to acupuncture.
I was first introduced to acupuncture when I was pregnant with my son August. I wanted to be proactive and avoid the back pain that’s so common during pregnancy. At the time, I was just trying to stay comfortable—but what I found was something much deeper. Acupuncture offered me not just physical relief, but emotional and energetic balance. That experience stayed with me.
So after my car accident, when I was seeking new ways to support my recovery, I knew it was time to return to the practice that had once helped me feel aligned and grounded in my body.
As someone who believes deeply in non-toxic living and whole-body wellness, acupuncture fits seamlessly into my approach. It aligns with everything I value: natural healing, honoring the body’s rhythms, and supporting long-term wellness instead of chasing quick fixes.
I’ll admit, when I started again, I still primarily thought of acupuncture as a treatment for physical pain—back, neck, shoulder. But what I rediscovered was how powerfully it works on every level. My acupuncturist describes it as “whole body medicine,” and I’ve come to understand exactly what she means. The healing isn’t just physical—it’s mental, emotional, and even spiritual.
Over time, I noticed unexpected benefits: more restful sleep, fewer headaches, improved digestion, reduced stress, and a greater sense of emotional stability. It reminded me just how connected everything is—when we address the body, we often end up healing parts of ourselves we didn’t even realize needed attention.
Acupuncture has also empowered me to take greater control of my overall well-being. I work closely with my healthcare providers and would never suggest stopping any medication without guidance, but I’ve found that as my symptoms improve, I’ve been able to shift my focus toward healthier habits and more sustainable healing.
For me, acupuncture isn’t just about needles—it’s about restoration. It’s about coming home to myself, honoring my body’s wisdom, and allowing space for deep healing to unfold.
